Tim used sounds of the garamut (slit log drums) I recorded in Rabaul, courtesy of garamut players who gave me permission to record a traditional message meaning Gather around, there’s trouble coming. Being a musician himself, Tim mixed drum sounds with his own sound effects. Credits to the players and owners of the drums in the text below. These particular performers are the ones hired for Rabaul’s major festivals, traditional or modern. I am indeed lucky that Mr. Albert Konie, my guide, was able to organize this village visit for me.
