Dear Friends and Readers,
As a result of a Book Award from the NYC Big Board/Independent Press contest, I was allotted an author signing half hour at the booth hosted by Printed Word Reviews, the contest sponsor.
Franky, I was terrified. My admission number to this prestigious conference was 2156322, which shows you the scale of the event.
But I had a tremendous day and sold out the six books I brought, and was honored by many sign-ins to get a bonus article. One attendee below told me that she was writing a novel with a Type 1 diabetic as protagonist, having never seen a main character reflecting her experience. I asked her to keep in touch.
I was thrilled to get permission from The Rabaul Historical Society to use their letterhead on a giveaway tote bag, with my links on it. I met extaordinary new people. My colleague, author Susan Wands, won the same award and we were together at the event and at the Marriot Hotel later.
Below, a member of the Library of Congress. I cried when she asked for the book, given what the current administration is trying to do with that precious institution.
Ar 4 pm. we met a colleague, Kate Gale of Red Hen Press, and headed to the Marriot Bar.
At the Marriot Hotel I met other members of The Authors Guild, We laughed and talked for three hours.
Me left, Bev Adamo author and publisher, Sally Wiener Grotta librarian and author, Kate Gale, translator Sean Gasper Bye.
